Goodbye Cape Dorset

I'm sad to say farewell to all my new friends, students, coworkers and the community members I've come to know during my time here.  I'm also sad to goodbye to my new cat friend Mona :(

What happens when you breath while walking. If anyone ever tells you that you shouldn't need a real fur collar when you go North or an expensive jacket, they are lying. It has kept me warm throughout! Thank you again to my parents for buying me this jacket, and Rodger and Elnora for going to get it for me.

Yup, it really is that expensive.

Pictures

It's a sad realization that my time here in Cape Dorset is coming to an end. When I arrived I felt like I had all the time in the world, but now I realize that this time next week I will be back "South". I saw the Northern Lights again last night;they still amaze me. I look forward to getting some copies of the ones from the other night from Heidi (her camera and skills are fabulous) to share with everyone.

Here are some more pictures! In no particular order. Also I am not able, nor do I feel comfortable posting pictures of faces of students, but managed to get some shots that do not have student faces in them to give you an idea of the games.

John the Principal and Kathy getting the snow ready for the Maple Taffy Station! I think the staff and students could have sat around the snow and ate Taffy all day; it was DELICIOUS!

One of the games involved students "running on their knees".

One of my drawings on the board early on.

Mona keeping me company as usual while I write my blogs.

My Winter Carnival Team T-Shirt (the children and staff really enjoyed the day we spent making these)

Going for a walk

We thought we came across the remnants of a sod house, but it turned out to be a wind shelter for when they shoot geese.

Mom, I thought you'd be pleased to see these up North. I'm continually surprised by what is available.

The iceberg we saw in the distance.
